Everyone start a blog for different reasons but I can bet that majority do so for the purpose of converting it to their major source of income.
Because you are on quest to promote your business and blog you try to get social media recognition.
This is why you start a facebook page and a twitter account. Then next step is to work to get followers and likes on this account. You want to promote your blog and increase visitor, and get your brand name out there like Neil Patel and other top bloggers.
Some people are so bent on increasing their social media accounts following because it is believed that social signals are strong indicator for quality signs for search engines.
That is to say that you need social signals to rank higher in search engines.
Well for me, I think that facebook and twitter traffic are the worst kind of traffic any blog can get. Unless you are in the blogging business of posting viral news content or photos of babies that survived bomb blasts, I don’t think that social media followers and likes will be of any good to you.
This does not mean that I don’t have a facebook page and I don’t believe you can get millions of traffic from social media networks. I for one have had one of my posts go viral on facebook, the traffic was so scary that my server nearly crashed.
But the truth remains that I was having hundreds of thousands of visitors from facebook and less than 1% was converting. It is not only that, promoting it was soooo stressful that I felt like fainting on some days.
Thinking of why so much traffic was not making me enough money, I thought of the reason why this was so and it boils down to me that these people are not in the right frame of mind to click on ads or order for my business.
When you want to go for traffic go for that laser-focused traffic – that set of people that are in demand of what you have to offer.
It is cheaper and less stressful for people to come looking for you than for you to go looking for them. That is what you do when you focus all your energy on getting facebook traffic.
This is why I would advise you that as you work hard to increase facebook likes and twitter followers, work on improving your organic traffic because they will remain for a long time, the best form of traffic any business and blog can ever get.
So I am sorry that I don’t have any specific answer to the question you are asking because personally this blog don’t depend on social media for its traffic. There is no use increasing page views count without having any financial result to show for it – that is unless my ad networks are willing to pay top dollar per thousand pageviews.
